Assumption views technology as a tool to enhance our academic curriculum. Teachers and students use technology to gain information and apply that data to research projects and various classroom activities.
Currently there is a computer lab where students from grades 4-8 have regular classes. In addition, there are computers available in most classrooms to support the integration of technology in their classwork. Each teachers has the use of an IPad that is displayed through a multi-media projector that enhances classroom instruction. Technology has transformed the teaching and learning environment at Assumption School. Educating in the 21st Century requires constant change and adaptation to prepare students with the skills they need to be successful in life. Assumption School is committed to providing all the technological tools to best prepare our students for life.
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics classes are skyrocketing, especially in our junior high! Assumption’s rocketry program is like no other opportunity offered to students in the Pacific Northwest, outside a post-secondary education. This hands-on program bridges STEM fundamentals with problem solving and critical thinking tasks to create the ultimate science program which our students look forward to each year. Last year we launched more than 20 rockets, flying as much as 16,000 feet high! We would like to announce a new addition to our rocket program this year, 2020, with the build of a high-altitude near space balloon. The goal of this project is to build and then analyzing data gathered about our Earth’s atmosphere and weather patterns. We want to thank our business partners and our junior high science teacher, Mr. Tom Carter, for helping us to grow and strengthen the STEM programs at Assumption. The 2020 countdown has begun and the launch has been scheduled for late Spring. Find us on facebook and instagram to see last year’s launch and updates to our programs!
